Dean Kamen and Google’s Light Bulb (by DaveWilsonPhotography)

Do you see that in his hand? That’s an LED light bulb. In comparison with a traditional incandescent, it uses only 15% of the power, provides nearly 1.4 times as much light, lasts 12.5 times as long, and costs 75% less over its lifetime. They turn on instantly, and contain no mercury, unlike their CFL counterparts. They even have the same “warm” color light that incandescents have.

I encourage everyone to help out FIRST by purchasing light bulbs from their local team or league. It’s good for the team, it’s good for the environment, and it’s good for you.
